Chefs on the ride: Shahril Om exalts the humble streetside burger

“Burger Om is an experience best repeated like a mantra,” chant the ‘Ampang kids,’ but I doubt their shared belief. The monstrous amount of margarine that went into the making of my burger prevents me from converting, but the occasional vice is welcome.

Interviewing Shahril and son in mangled Malay gave me ruddy cheeks – good thing Slim was around to translate. When he explained that I was doing a write-up, my mouthwatering and messy meal provided was on the house.
